Steve Winterburn’s statue unveiled in July last year honouring Cardiff’s legendary ‘Rugby Codebreakers’ – has won the ‘Celebrating Black Sporting Heritage Award’ category at the Sporting Heritage Awards. The statue of Billy Boston, Clive Sullivan and Gus Risman is the first in Wales ever to feature non-fictionalised, named black men.
The Winterburn family were honoured to complete this project it was a joy to work on alongside a great committee representing and immortalising even true icons, but to receive this award for the monument is a real cherry on top for all involved.
